The main New Orleans gambling Casino option in the French Quarter is Harrah's Casino (228 Poydras Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70130,504-533-6000) located at the foot of Canal Street and in easy walking distance of the French Quarter.
New Orleans Travel Tip: Harrah's has their own hotel, so you may be able to book a great rate if you are a frequent gambler.
Harrah's offer all types of conventional gambling, and is a full-service, full table game casino, along with slot machines and restaurants.
Another New Orleans casino, the Treasure Chest Casino (5050 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, LA 70065, 504-443-8000) is located about a 15 minuite drive from the French Quarter. Unlike Harrah's, the Treasure Chest is a Riverboat Casino, although it is not located on the river, nor does it sail.
It is located off Lake Ponchartrain, and is also a full-service casino with restaurants.
Another nearby New Orleans casino is the Boomtown Casino (4132 Peters Road, Harvey, La, 504-366-7711) located about 15 minutes across the Mississippi River from New Orleans.
If horse racing is your thing, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70119, 504-944-5515) will have what you need. Located a short taxi ride from the French Quarter, The Fair Grounds has really made itself over in the last few years. This New Orleans horse racing venue is a great place to visit!
It features a full restaurant and all sorts of entrance and bet options. It also has a room devoted to slot machines.
